Juvederm is a filler treatment that focuses on the face, specifically the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth. It’s one of the most common non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the United States, with more than 2.4 million procedures using hyaluronic acid-based fillers (including Juvederm) were performed in 2016.

Juvederm is used to provide 9 months to one year of correction for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. The areas that can be treated with Juvederm include:

  • In between eyebrows (Frown Lines)
  • Outer eyebrow
  • Under the eyes
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Corners of mouth (Marionette Lines)
  • Pre-Jowl Hallows
  • Chin Crease

Juvederm Pre-Treatment Instructions

A few simple guidelines before your treatment can make a difference between a good result and a fantastic one. If you have a special event or vacation coming up schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance. Let us know if you are prone to cold sores – a pre-treatment medication may help prevent cold sores after treatment.

NO Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment.

Discontinue Retin-A two (2) days before and two (2) days after treatment.

AVOID: Alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates (you may eat fruit), spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment

Juvederm Post-Treatment Instructions

DO NOT: touch, press, rub or manipulate the injected areas for the rest of the day after treatment. Avoid kissing, puckering and sucking movements for 24 hours.

You can cause irritation, sores, and/or problems that can lead to possible scarring.

AVOID: Aspirin, motrin, gingko biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplement and cigarettes for 24-48 hours after your treatment

AVOID: Vigorous exercise and sun, tanning beds and heat exposure for 3 days after treatment. Sleeping on your face for 24 hours. Microderm abrasion, facials, peels, for 3-5 days; and avoid laser & light treatment for 2-4 weeks.

One side may heal faster than the other side.

You can expect some bruising and swelling around the areas that were injected. Apply ice for the first hour after treatment for ten minutes on and ten minutes off.

You must wait 2 weeks before any enhancements.

***Please report any redness, blisters, or itching immediately if it occurs after treatment***

Side Effects

​​​​​​​Because this medication is given at the site of your condition, most of the side effects occur close to where the medication is injected. Redness, bruising, infection, and pain at the injection site may occur.
